The KOSC is a 501(c)3 non-profit association. Our specific purpose is to raise funds to sponsor charitable, educational, and welfare projects at Kirtland Air Force Base and the local community. We make numerous cash donations throughout the year to KAFB, community organizations and national 501(c)3 charities that fit our purpose. We also award college scholarships to qualified military dependents and are able to accomplish this via our various fundraisers and profits from the Thrift Shop. Donations: Donations are accepted during business hours only; please do not leave items outside the Thrift Shop. All donations become the property of the Thrift Shop to be sold at our discretion.


Location: Building 20226, Rio Grand Community Center on the corner of F Ave and Texas Street across the street from the East Fitness Center and Bowling Alley. Please note that G Avenue behind the building is a one way street heading east.

 

Parking: Customer parking is available in front of the bldg on F Avenue. Parking behind the bldg is reserved for volunteers and customers dropping off consignments only! DO NOT PARK IN THE DORM LOT ON G AVENUE, this is for dorm personnel only and violators will be cited and towed!

NEW Hours of Operation: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 10am - 2pm
for shopping, consignments accepted until 1 pm.

1st Thursday 2-6pm; consignments accepted until 5:00pm.

3rd Saturday 10-2pm; consigments accepted until noon
 

The Thrift Shop will be closed September 1, 2008 for Labor Day.
 
 Consignment Checks: Consignment checks are available for pick up the 10th of each month or the following day that the Thrift Shop is open. Checks are not mailed to consignors. For more info call 505-508-1114.

Access privileges: All Kirtland AFB employees, dependents, civilians, and guests may purchase items from the Thrift Shop.

Eligibility: Military members (active and retired) and dependents with a valid ID card, and eligible civilian employees at Kirtland AFB may consign items. All military personnel not in uniform must show proper ID when consigning. Items are consigned at the OWNERS risk. The Thrift Shop assumes NO responsibility whatsoever for loss or damage of any articles placed on consignment. The consignor accepts legal responsibility for all damages. The Thrift Shop reserves the right to refuse an item for consignment.
Contracts: Items maybe cosigned for a maximum of two (2) calendar months, date to be determined by the Thrift Shop. Twenty (20) items may be consigned per day, ten (10) clothing, ten (10) miscellaneous, or a total of twenty (20) miscellaneous. Only 3 like items (i.e. 3 pieces of jewelry, 3 women's pants, or 3 men's pants etc.) will be accepted per day and only one pair of shoes per gender. A maximum of 10 active contracts per account is allowed. All items must be in clean and good condition. Mechanical/electrical items should be clean and in good working order. Minimum price for consigned items is $1.00. Prices must be set in twenty-five (25) cent increments.
Overstock rules: Overstock (items temporarily not being accepted at certain times) will be posted on the bulletin board in the Thrift Shop. A waiting list for furniture items is available at the front desk.
PCS moves, retiree or nonmilitary family moving out of state: Consignor must present orders or a written letter and may consign 40 items per day with a maximum of 20 contracts, no earlier than 60 days before your move.
Consignment privileges: will be revoked if the consignor sells any items directly to the public while on the Thrift Shop premises, including the parking lot.

Airmen Assistance Program

The KOSC Thrift Shop is implementing an Airmen Assistance Program to assist airmen and their families in need of basic household items and clothing. This program is available to ranks E-4 and below, as well as their spouses with proper military ID. To participate in the program ask your commander or first shirt to send an email to the Thrift Shop Manager at KOSC@thriftshop.comcastbiz.net. For more info about this new program call 505-508-1114.
 Program Information: Participants will be given a $100 credit per quarter (per airman or family) to shop for TSP (Thrift Shop Property) items in the store. The entire $100 credit does NOT need to be used all at one time, but must be spent during the quarter received. Balances will not be carried over to the next quarter. Quarters run Jan.-Mar, Apr.-June, July-Sept, Oct.-Dec. Additional credit may be given at the discretion of management for special situations such as, change in marital status, birth of a child, fire, theft, etc.

For higher priced and large items such as furniture and microwaves over $20 can only be purchased after they have been on the sales floor for at least 30 days. Higher priced items that have not reached their 30 day period, participants may ask to be put on the waiting list. Participant on the waiting list will be contacted and allowed 3 business days to pick up the item. If the item is not picked up at that time, the next participant on the list will be contacted. The last week of each month, the shop marks down all items with a certain color tag to only 50 cents each!
